Army will oust Zuma if he refuses to go - Malema warns

South African opposition politician Julius Malema has asked under fire President Jacob Zuma to step down before the army turns against him.

Malema was addressing a crowd of 40,000 supporters of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) party at the Orlando Stadium in Soweto ahead of the municipal elections on August 3 this year.

“I say to Zuma, wherever you are, the soldiers will turn their weapons against you. Be warned and resigns before the soldiers turn their weapons against you,” he said. > Malema: This is the army of General Nyanda. I warn you Zuma. That army will soon turn those guns against you.

While launching the party’s manifesto, Malema promised to end the white privilege who hold 80% of the country’s agricultural wealth, adding that the country will be given back to the black majority.

Malema also accused South Africa’s current parliamentarians of being “agents of apartheid.”

He also challenged the government to arrest him, while dismissing the treason charges pressed against him earlier this week by the ruling party, the AP reports.

The ANC filed the charges after Malema said he would take up arms against the government if he saw rigging in the elections.
